There are 14 acres of natural landscape surrounding the house and a small sandy cove a short walk through the gardens. Connemara quartz hill’s flank the back of the house and the Atlantic opens out in the front. Clifden town, bustling with pubs and restaurants is just 10 minute drive away on a typically Irish narrow road but there is an excellent taxi service available for night owls. The surrounding Connemara landscape is unparalleled in beauty with stunning white sandy beaches and vast empty landscapes of mountain and ocean.
Connemara has long been regarded as the real emerald of Ireland. This rugged terrain and unspoilt environment offer visitors a unique experience for all the senses. The people are warm, friendly and extend a warm Failte (welcome) which is sure to stay with you long after you leave.

Walking
Whether you enjoy a gentle pace or a more challenging hike across rugged mountain trails, Connemara offers it all. There are hidden byways, shorelines and beaches around every corner, just waiting to be explored.
Cycling
One of the best way's to take advantage of this untamed landscape is by bicycle. You can enjoy the fresh Atlantic air amid the small stone walled fields, towering mountains and tranquil lakes. Rest and while away the evening by the fire in a country Pub or enjoy a meal in a local resaurant (we will be delighted to offer you recommendations).
Beaches
Known as the capital of Connemara, one of Ireland’s most spectacular coastal regions on The Wild Atlantic Way, Clifden is a bustling tourist town.
While Clifden Castle and the Sky Road tend to get much of the attention, there are some breathtaking beaches near Clifden (many just a short spin away).
Explore some of Connemara's unspoilt, clear unpolluted beaches. Enjoy walking, swimming or relaxing on the beach. An evening or sunset stroll on a beach in Connemara is among the most magical experience in the world and one not to be missed. Some beaches worth a visit in the area:
- Just off the Sky Road loop is Eyrephort Beach
- Omey Strand at Claddaghduff
- Travelling towards Roundstone, be sure to stop off at the famous Dog’s Bay and Gurteen Beach.
- The Ballyconneely area has wonderful beaches at every turn, no matter which road you take.
- The Coral Strand beach at Derrygimlagh which opens out onto Mannin Bay
- Or take a drive into Salthill (75km away)
