Description
Ocean’s End sits snuggly between the light houses of the Old Head of Kinsale to the east and the Galley Head to the west, making it the ideal base to explore the unadulterated splendour of the West Cork coastline and its myriad of sandy swimming beaches.
The cottage was recently fully refurbished from its modest beginnings as a family farmhouse dating back over 200 years. Original thick walls and intimate low ceilings are a subtle reminder of the earlier cottage. The old blends seamlessly with the modern stylish interior, cottage-styled with a home-makers detailing and skill combined with exquisite craftsmanship throughout.
Downstairs has an open plan living space where a contemporary galley style kitchen leads to a comfy lounge with a welcoming wood burning stove and a sumptuous shabby-chic sofa. From here one can choose to dine in the light filled south facing sunroom or opt for al fresco dining on the adjacent paved terrace via a panoramic sliding patio door. Across the hall is a cosy living room with another wood burning stove and a generous corner sofa for relaxing after an enjoyable day spent immersed in the surrounding countryside. The rear of the ground floor has a boot room with guest WC, utility room with a Sheila maid clothes dryer and a shower specially for those sandy toes!
Upstairs has two generous double bedrooms both ensuite, two single bedrooms and a family bathroom. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath while taking in the uninterrupted views of rolling pastureland leading onwards to the Atlantic Ocean.
Outside the house is surrounded by a private garden with a wonderful outdoor seating area boasting a log burning fire and a sheltered garden room with a charcoal BBQ and pizza oven. There is plenty of private and safe car parking space.
As the cottage is located adjacent to a national milk quality award winning farm, early morning milking excursions can be arranged, affording you a wonderful opportunity to deeply connect with nature and immerse yourself in the best of what West Cork farm life has to offer. Your reward - a bottle of fresh creamy milk straight from the cow to enjoy with a well-earned breakfast. Don’t forget to pack your wellingtons!
